Tasting- San Elias Carmenere

Name: San Elias Carmenere
Variety: Carmenere
Region: Central Valley
Country: Chile
Year: 2010
Price: $5.95

Vintage Cellar Review: The grapes for this Carmenere are selected from vineyards in the Central Valley. Beautiful red fruit aromas. Supple and round in the mouth, the wine pairs well with full flavored cheeses and lamb.

My Review: I had not yet tried a wine of this variety, and I was delightfully surprised. There were hints of plum and almost a violety smell. This wine was quite more acidic than I am used to, but was very refreshing in the same. There was not too harsh of an aftertaste, leaving you with a refreshing taste of blackberries and cherries.

I did not taste this wine with food.
